On 12 August 2024 Jurgen Otto and David Hill described two new species from the southwest of Western Australia in Peckhamia 318.1 . The two new species are named Maratus miles and Maratus lynx. This brings the total number of named peacock spiders to 101. The two new species which were discovered by Flynn Prall and James McMulkin have display behaviour that is similar to that of Maratus felinus, and are therefore placed within the same subgroup. A common feature of the the display of all three species is the drumming with the front legs while legs III are extended and the abdomen is lowered. This behaviour is documented in numerous charts.
